Brandon Sweeney is the Founder and Lead Pastor of Salt City Church. He is a devoted husband to his wife Ashantae, and father to their 3 amazing kids.

Brandon was born and raised in Akron, OH. Christ found him in college while playing football. Brandon has been a Minister of the Gospel for over 15 years in various roles. He is passionate about preaching God’s Word, shepherding people, and raising up leaders to be salt and light in their everyday lives.

Vocationally, Brandon has worked as an educator, counselor, and coach. He is also a two-time author. Brandon has earned degrees from both NC A&T State University and Argosy University.

The Sweeneys met in Greensboro, NC and were married in July 2011.  

Ashantae is a native of New Orleans, LA and a graduate of Howard University and NC State University.  She is currently enjoying this season of being a devoted wife, and homeschool mama to Judah, Bethany and Aubrey.

The Sweeney's story is marked by God's faithfulness. They are passionate in their pursuit of Christ and hope to make an eternal kingdom impact here in Bryan -College Station for the Glory of God!

THE CALLING
For over 15 years, I've been privileged to serve as a leader in ministry. God captured my heart as a college athlete. Through our team chaplain, I heard and responded to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I’ve never been the same. Since 2008, I’ve sensed God’s calling to preach and pastor, though I didn’t know how or when. In 2016, God led my family and I to Houston for a job, but it was really a divine setup. We joined a church plant in North Houston and began to serve. Those acts of obedience propelled us into the call to plant Salt City Church.
Fast forward to 2019, while serving as Associate Pastor and Youth Pastor in North Houston, I had a VIVID dream of planting a church in Bryan-College Station. I kept the dream to myself and surprisingly, four months later, my wife shared a very similar vision of ministry in College Station. We knew God was up to something! So we began visiting monthly to pray over the city.
In December 2022, God allowed us to make College Station home. I partnered and enrolled in Restoration Church-Bryan’s church planting residency, and we’ve been supported and sharpened for this journey of planting Salt City Church.
We carry a deep love for this city and a strong conviction to boldly represent Jesus. We are excited to be a part of God’s story for Bryan/College Station, and to witness transformation in our city through the Gospel of Jesus Christ!!
